Pomp and Circumstance, Holidays, Work, Exercise

Hello my friends!!!  I've still been sticking to a regular routine.  I did Powerlates Monday and it was great.  I've been doing weight/cardio exercises for the rest of the week.  Of course, we are in the midst of the Holiday season so my eating habits have been horrible.  I'm hoping that will change after the New Year.  I know I can have a 33 inch waist again.  Its not a New Years Resolution, its a goal.

In addition to my exercises, I have to make sure My mom does her exercises every day to rehab her ankle.  I keep on her about it and make sure I never let her slack.  She'll be having surgery again in two months to remove metal rods.  I look after her as best as possible.  Keep her in your prayers!!!

Work has been going well.  I've fulfilled many patron requests the past two weeks and have helped organize the collection.  Even though I've had my degree since August, the official ceremony for Summer Grads was with the Fall Grads this past Friday December 13th.  It was a joyous day.  I just wish my Mom could have been there.  She was very proud of me though!!!


Remember, none of this can be done without motivation and one of the best keys to motivation is Exercise.  Hence the purpose of this blog.

Getting back into it!!!!

I've been sore the past few days.  Thats what happens when you take too much time off.  After Powerlates Monday, I've done Weight and Cardio Workouts the last two days.  It makes me feel great to be back into it.  I've had some productive days a the Eudora Welty Library helping patrons and signing up Children to Receive Free Books for our Books For Tots Program.  I am still tired and phased from the past two weeks and have many more rough weeks to come but with the help of work and exercise I will survive.  Please pray for my Mom!!!!

IM BACK!!!!

Hello my friends been a while.  Those who know me on Facebook know a lot has transpired in my life in the past two weeks.  I got sick with Virus and couldn't eat solid foods for three days.  My mother had a severe fracture to her ankle causing her to have surgery.  She will be on a walker the next four months so I must help her the best I can.  Its harder when I'm the only one she can turn to fir a while.  Please pray for her and me at this time.

After a two week layoff I returned to Powerlates at Deville Y.  We did some different exercises today that were unique.  I was surprised I kept up cardiovascular wise.  Its gonna be a while before I can regain flexibility or what I had of it.  Needless to say, I'm back.  Exercise will help me physically and mentally with all the stress I'm under.  Whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!!!

One Day at a Time

I did TRX for the fourth time today!!!  I was impressed with my endurance level this time and how much better my cardiovascular conditioning has become.  The main area I need to work on at this point is my balance.  If I can add more stretching to my weekly routines, I believe I can obtain greater balance and flexibility.  Upper body routines were pretty easy for me as I'm used to Weight Workouts.  My lower body is another story.  I will get there One day at a Time!!!

I'm off of work at Eudora Welty Library this weekend.  Need to give the mind the time to rest.  Body and Mind are one if you think about it.  How you feel mentally affects you physically and how you feel physically affects you mentally.  Gonna be busy next week at Work, I've got Jury Duty Monday and lists of other things.  Well, until we meet again friends Remember One Day at a Time!!!!

Getting Better Every Week!!!!

Just did a Powerlates Class at Deville Y!!!  I mad it through whole class without having to stop much and didnt feel as out of breath at the end.  I strongly recommend this class and I also strongly recommend guys to start trying Pilates and Yoga.  I still do my share of weightlifting but realize my joints are not what they once were.  Now that I'm getting my cardiovascular conditioning back, time to gain flexibility back to when I was a teenager if I can.  Back to work tomorrow.  Welty Library was closed today in honor of Veterans Day!!!  Special Thanks to all who have served!!!  I will feel nice and relaxed in the morning and ready to do what I do best, Customer Service and Research!!!!

TRX Part 3

Well its a cool day here in Jackson, MS.  I'm on a 3 day weekend.  The Eudora Welty Library is closed on Monday in observance of Veteran's Day.  I feel I hada productive week at work.  I helped many patrons and am helped moved book shelf in reservation of new teen area that will be developed.  The estimated date of arrival is not definite at this point.

Anyway, I took the TRX class for the third time today and feel great.  I can definitely tell I'm getting more and more flexible and my endurance is increasing.  I strongly recommend TRX to anyone especially Men.  Us guys have to realize that stretching and flexibility is more important than trying to have 24 inch biceps.  Here is an article in Men's fitness on the importance of stretching

Hump Day

Its Wednesday Hump Day.  I worked out at Deville Y and did both weights and cardio.  Did light weight workout to build up endurance.  Due to busy day yesterday, I wasnt able to run or walk.  Got 25 minutes on the Elliptical.  Its helped my progress at work.  I feel more relaxed when working and performing research.

Weight Training

Todays Powerlates class had more weightlifting added on to stretching.  My abdominal strength and flexibility is getting better.  However, I still need to do more stretching on my own.  It will help me sustain a lot of the standing exercises better.  I did awesome at pushups and skull crushers cause Im used to those.  I feel relaxed and ready for a fulls day work tomorrow at the Eudora Welty Library.

Progressive Working Day

Of Course I can't Update My Blog without commenting on how Exercise affects my Work Ethic.  After Powerlates yesterday evening, I feel ultra relaxed today.  I shifted the DVD Collection Downstairs with ease and am helping Weed out old Reference Books.  We always Work Better If We Are Relaxed.  In my line of work, I have to be in dealing with the Public and Performing Tedious Research!!!!

Flexibility

Had a good Powerlates class at Deville Y.  Im getting more flexible.  Its just hat I need.  Feelgreat.  Teacher taught us something new called the Scorpion.  Its not as intense as it sounds.  it does involve a lot of leg movement though.  Im getting the body back!!!

Plateau

There comes a time in any person's fitness goals where they reach a plateau.  Someone cant lose any more weight, cant gain more muscle, can't gain more flexibility.  My friends, in regards to losing weight, I feel I have reached this plateau.  My work ethic in the gym has always been better than my dieting.  While I have cut out Carbs and Sugar, I still digest a lot of Sodium which builds Water Weight.  It's a hard thing to give up as I have cravings for these types of Foods and Diet Coke.  Lets hope I can try to overcome these urges.  I'm teetering at 245 lbs. and that's 10 lbs. less than what I was this summer.

I worked out Legs Monday and started doing Modified Squats (All the years of dropping to my knees has done its damage).  Worked out Chest yesterday at Deville Y and feel good today.

I have finally broken into my Reference Position.  Started off to be a busy day helping patrons but that only motivates me more!!!!

Been a few days!!!!

Hello my Friends!!!  It's been a few days!!!!  Haven't done any Pilates or Aerobics classes the rest of this week after I did Powerlates on Monday.  However, done weights on Cardio the rest of the week!!!  I still need to focus on stretching!!!  I'm working at Eudora Welty Library 1-5pm today!!!  Look forward to helping patrons and performing research!!!

Exercise Class

I did a Powerlates Class at Deville Y yesterday.  I am sore!!!!  I definitely need to start stretching a lot more.  The past ten years of focusing strictly on Weight Lifting and Running has made me stiff as a board!!!  One step at a time, I'm gonna try and get my Flexibility back.  Since my legs are so sore, I'm gonna do a Chest Workout this evening!!!  Keep moving forward!!!!!

After the Weekend

Well, I weighed myself Friday before a Workout at Deville Y, I was down to 245 lbs.  That's a ten pound loss in a month and a half.  However, I went to State Fair Friday evening and splurged a little too much.  Who could blame me?  Weight as of Saturday was 248!!!  I'm going to up my protein intake as I might be losing muscle mass with weight.

I'm enjoying a semibusy day at Eudora Welty Library!!!  Still waiting on some interesting questions to research for patrons!!  It's my passion!!!

Tonight, it's Legs workout!!!!  Tomorrow, Thinking about trying out Yoga class in Morning for the first time.  I think I will be more relaxed throughout the day Working!!!

Tuesday's Gone

Well, my working day at Eudora Welty is almost complete!!  It's been another productive day at a job I very much enjoy. I've learned a lot the first month and have become acquainted with the reference process.  I successfully helped three people find books today as well as dozens of people over the phone.  The seasons are changing and the temperature is dropping slightly!!!  I havent weighed myself lately but feel much lighter.  Gonna hit Back and Biceps at Deville Y!!  Push it Push it!!!!

The Day After

I'm enjoying a Sunday afternoon working at the Eudora Welty Library.  I helped two people find information.  It was very detailed information though and took quite a while.  That's the passion I have when I can fulfill the needs of patrons. I'm reading the Memoirs of Stephen King on the side as well as updating my knowledge of Mississippi politics.  I'm hoping this will get me prepared to start doing some writing eventually.  I feel very relaxed today helping patrons though.  I guess TRX really does work.  Even though I'm sore, I'm debating whether or not to work out Chest first thing in the Morning at Deville Y. What do you think?

TRX

I took TRX  the first time at Pilates Studio of Ridgeland.  I am sore but relaxed. Didnt realize how messed up my knees and joints were from years of squats and not stretching. Well I made it.  Got to get haircut and run errands.  I work tomorrow at Eudora Welty.  I will feel very relaxed helping patrons and performing research!!!  Thanks Lara Gill for a Good class today!!!

Ongoing

Well, I worked out Chest yesterday after work at Deville Y and got 20 minutes of Cardio in.  Had a dinner consisting of Dry Spinach, Chicken Breast covered with Olive Oil and Natural Almonds.  After work today, work out legs and more cardio.  I'm actually weighing 5 pounds less than when I finished school in August but I have a long way to go.  Just had a Diet Coke, I've got to cut it out!!!!!  I'm looking forward to another exciting day at work at the Eudora Welty Library!!!!

Welcome

Well My Journey Begins.  I have started this blog as a means of encouragement for myself and others.  I am a newly hired Reference Assistant who is not in the best shape he's ever been in.  I still exercise daily.  However, my eating habits while finishing school were nothing to speak of.  I have been working out regularly since I was 16. While still bulky in my upper body, my body fat percentage is not good and I'm up to about a 40 inch waist.

Exercise helps people physically and mentally.  I absolutely love my job as a Professional Reference Assistant at Eudora Welty Library in Jackson.  I feel that by losing weight and toning up back to my old self, it will help my skills as a librarian.  The mental effects of diet and exercise on a person's daily life have been proven through time.  I want to prove it as well.  Wish me luck.  I want to eventually get back to a 33 inch waist and still maintain my Muscle tone.
